Maria Roumpani, PhD

Advisor

Maria specializes in the economic and technical analysis of electrical grid dispatch and capacity planning. Her recent experience includes grid planning and decarbonization issues, including modeling fossil fuel retirement and the deployment of distributed energy resources.

Prior to joining Strategen, Maria completed her doctorate in the Management Science and Engineering department at Stanford University. Her dissertation focused on market design for wholesale electricity markets, considering issues of market power, risk aversion, and uncertainty.

Maria started her career as a researcher and mathematical modeler in the E3M-Lab at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, contributing to the development of large scale energy planning models and analytical tools used in EU energy policy studies.

Maria holds a MSc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
