Strategen has three business units: consulting, events, and association management. The business units are supported by an operations team, a finance team, and a marketing & communications team. Strategen is always on the lookout for qualified candidates for the following roles on our consulting team:
Managers require a strong track record in corporate strategy and project management, with experience working on all stages of strategy-based and analytical projects. Managers are technical experts, with deep understanding of how the grid functions and how to plan for new system resources. Technical expertise in the areas of new grid technologies and clean energy, electric power system planning, policy and regulatory consulting, and/or power sector financial modeling is strongly preferred. In addition, managers are expected to help develop business for Strategen and its lines of business.
Consultants have proven analytical and problem solving skills. Consultants are responsible for helping to conceptualize and communicate strategic frameworks for specific problems, and are called on to assist in structuring the work of Analysts. Consultants work closely with clients and client teams to build their problem solving skills in many areas, and make significant contributions to both client work and firm building activities. Consultants are expected to guide small projects autonomously from start to finish on time and within budget. Consultants will typically have several years of relevant industry work experience prior to joining Strategen.
Analysts are exposed to a broad range of clients and markets within the renewable energy and clean technology fields. Analysts are responsible for supporting Strategen engagement teams with primary and secondary market research, and basic spreadsheet analysis and data analysis, while assisting Consultants and Managers with firm building and sales tasks. Analysts will hone their problem solving, client engagement, and communication skills while collaborating closely with diverse project teams. Analysts are also expected to develop and maintain a network of professionals in the energy sector.
Strategen’s internship program is designed to provide talented graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to gain valuable exposure to energy policy work, new grid technologies, and professional development opportunities while working in our Berkeley office. Successful interns have a strong academic background at the undergraduate or graduate level, a demonstrated commitment to renewable energy and grid transformation, and strong writing, research, coding, and/or website development/graphic skills. Seasonal interns at Strategen are often invited to continue beyond the initial program duration, and frequently receive offers of full-time employment upon completion of their education.
