SENER Workshop (Mexican ministry of energy)

In Mexico the development of electrical energy storage projects is incipient. In the rest of the world there is little advance in the subject, but there are already some projects in operation.

Because of its role in facilitating the integration of renewable energy and in the stability and optimization of transmission and distribution grids, the development of electrical energy storage systems is important for the future of Mexican energy sector. There are many methods and technologies for the storage of electrical energy and there is a great opportunity to develop a high-value industry in the country based on these technologies.

By described before, the Mexican Energy Secretariat (SENER), through the General Directorate of Research, Technological Development and Training of Human Resources (DGIDTFRH for its acronym in Spanish) developed a technical workshop where the most important needs were identified for the energy sector in terms of building capacity, training of talent, research, development and deployment of technologies on the subject of Energy Storage to the electric network. Based on the results of the workshop will develop and publish a report of "National priorities for research, technological development and human resources training".

The report will focus on deploying research national priorities, technological development and training of human resources aligned to the country's capabilities to develop and enhance energy storage technologies.

The workshop lasted three days, from Tuesday, November 14 to Thursday 16th of the same month, and was held in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.

The workshop consisted of 8 tables and three plenary sessions.
